Dubrovnik’s Old Town is famous as the real-world King’s Landing — but Mount Srđ itself, right above the city, has its own place in the show’s filming history. Here’s what you can actually see from up there.
1. The view over King’s Landing
The classic wide shot of King’s Landing seen from above in the series was filmed looking down from Mount Srđ toward the Old Town and the Adriatic — the same panorama every cable car visitor and buggy tour sees from the summit today, red rooftops, city walls, and sea included.
2. The Red Keep, from a distance
Fort Lovrijenac, standing on the rocky point just outside the city walls, played the Red Keep in several exterior shots — and it’s clearly visible from Mount Srđ’s viewpoints, giving you a genuine “spot the filming location” moment without a dedicated tour.
3. Fort Imperial itself
The fortress at the summit — which you can walk into as part of the Museum of the Homeland War (see our full Mount Srđ guide) — appears in the background of some aerial and establishing shots filmed from the mountain.
4. The wider Dalmatian coastline
Several sweeping helicopter/drone shots used throughout the series were filmed over this stretch of coast, with Mount Srđ’s elevation making it one of the few vantage points that actually replicates those angles on foot (or on a buggy).
Do you need a dedicated “GoT tour” to see this?
Not really. Every self-drive or private buggy safari Dubrovnik tour we run passes these exact viewpoints as a normal part of the route — you don’t need to book a separate filming-locations tour to see what the show’s location scouts saw. If you want the Old Town filming locations too (Red Keep exteriors up close, the Sept of Baelor steps, etc.), those are a walking tour inside the walls, separate from the Mount Srđ side of things covered here.
Best way to see it
A self-drive tour (30 minutes) gets you to the main viewpoint and back; a private tour (2–3 hours) covers more of the trail network at a relaxed pace, with time to stop for photos at each angle. See our pricing guide for both.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I see Game of Thrones filming locations from Mount Srđ without a dedicated tour?
Yes — every self-drive or private buggy tour passes the same viewpoints used for King's Landing's aerial shots, so no separate filming-locations tour is needed for the Mount Srđ side.
Which Game of Thrones locations are visible from Mount Srđ?
The classic King's Landing aerial view, Fort Lovrijenac (the Red Keep) in the distance, Fort Imperial itself, and the wider Dalmatian coastline used in several helicopter shots.
Do I need to visit the Old Town separately for other Game of Thrones locations?
Yes — interior and close-up filming locations like the Red Keep exteriors and the Sept of Baelor steps are inside the Old Town walls, a separate walking tour from the Mount Srđ buggy trails covered here.
