Travelling with kids and wondering if a Mount Srđ buggy tour is actually a fit for the family — not just the adults? Here’s what to know before booking.
Yes, children can join — as passengers
Kids are welcome on our tours as passengers from age 5, seated safely next to an adult in a proper belted seat (not straddled like on a quad — see our buggy vs quad comparison for why that matters with children on board). Children aged 5–11 ride at a reduced rate of €20, alongside a paying adult driver or passenger.

Self-drive or private — which suits families better?
Both work, but they suit different families:
- Self-drive tours (about 30 minutes) are great for families where one parent wants to drive and the other rides alongside the kids — a quick, affordable taste of off-road adventure without a long commitment for younger attention spans.
- Private tours (2 or 3 hours) put one of our own drivers behind the wheel, so both parents can sit back with the kids and enjoy the ride together, with hotel pickup and drop-off included — no logistics to manage, no one has to “miss out” by driving.
Is it safe for kids?
Every buggy has a roll cage, doors, and seatbelts — a fundamentally different (and safer) setup than a straddled quad bike. Every tour starts with a safety briefing, and speeds on the guided convoy are kept manageable, not a high-speed off-road race. Helmets are provided for every rider, adult and child alike.
What about the terrain and heat?
Mount Srđ’s trails involve some dust, bumps, and sun exposure, so bring sunscreen, water, and comfortable closed-toe shoes for kids just as you would for adults — see our full preparation guide for the complete packing list. Tours run in short bursts with photo stops, so it’s rarely too long for younger kids to stay engaged, especially on the 30-minute self-drive option.
Booking tip for families
If you have more than 3 people in your group (say, two adults and two kids), a private tour needs a second vehicle once you go past 3 guests per buggy — our booking calculator shows this automatically and calculates the total live as you add guests, so there are no surprises at checkout.
